An Honest Take on Tiles of the Simpsons

2.7
After putting many hours into Tiles of the Simpsons, I have concluded that it is a mediocre game with niche appeal. The Mahjong-matches puzzle mechanics are nothing new but are intuitive. So for a super fan of The Simpsons, just seeing these cherished characters on the tiles is a draw but the gameplay itself doesn't offer anything new. It’s a classic tiles-must-match-to-clear-the-board thing that may grow repetitive for some over time. There seemed to be a split as players wandered past; while some had fun with the non-competitive, nostalgic romp through the series, other players were looking for deeper and yet more innovative mechanics in their puzzle games. The game also includes an option to submit your score, lending it a competitive feel, but it is missing that moreish element that would make you want to replay it time after time. For the casual gamer who’s just looking to kill some time, it might provide a few minutes of distraction but it won’t keep you busy for long.
